Amazing beach - beautiful and easy to get to! In a cove so the water is normally calm. Also has a beach house which is well maintained. Full review by 36beverlyd

Parking is limited and gated. We went mid morning week day and had no problem. The water is beautiful and great snorkeling. There were small waves. The BIG issue is the heat in the sand. Even wi… Full review by claudiahW2280MD

Is the bottom sandy in the ocean? Plus, is it a good snorkeling place like Hanauma bay and Molokini crater?

Some rocks but nothing awful. And the snorkeling was decent if you go out a ways past the super shallow area

Depends on your age and if you are active and in good shape. There is a lot of walking over lava rocks which can be dangerous if your foot slips. My brother and I are in our 40s and walked from our condo to the beach in 15-20 minutes. When we took our parents who are in their 70s it took us 45 minutes. It's a small secluded beach and the sand gets extremely hot! It's a quick drop off once you get in the water and very rocky, but it's incredible for snorkeling!

We stayed at Colony One Resort, which was very nice and well equipped. We had two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a washer and dryer. Condo was roomy and comfortable. We were at Puna lu u Black Sand Beach, on the south end of Hawaii. We always enjoy going there, and watching the sea turtles on the beach. Also at the resort at Colony One,there is a golf course. We don't golf so don't know what its like.
