The owners would have you start at the bottom of the garden, but it is best experienced starting at the top and going down. I walked around through the adjacent Villa Lante park and then scaled the l… Full review by B9840QGlaurak

Lovely formal Italian style garden set on various levels with many fountains. Very impressive. Set in parkland. Many steps. Full review by Yrllaedi
Hello I want to visit Villa Lante, Bagnaia near Viterbo. I found information online regarding an older train service that runs between Rome Flaminio station and to Bagnaia on the FC3 but it appears to run 5 times but only on Sundays. Is this correct? It is said to take longer than the trains but the scenery is to be enjoyed on the way. Has anyone travelled to Villa Lante using this service?

On second thought, Download the app, Rome2Rio. Enter your start point and your destination. It will give you complete information on all options to get to Vertibo.

Sometimes you can find a spot outside the church. However before you get to the center on the right is a car park. I believe you will need to pay for a spot. I was lucky and found a free street spot, but a bit of a walk.
We shall be visiting Viterbo in May 2017. Is there some means of public transport from Porta Romana in Viterbo to Villa Lante, please? We are a couple of senior citizens. Thanks for the information.

hi. Our plan is to leave Civitavecchia port in the morning, drive to Lake Bolsena, after lunch, drive to Villa Lante and then return to the port after visiting the gardens. Anyone have any other suggestions? Is there anything we need to be concerned with doing a trip like this? Will we have the time if we plan to be back at the port by around 5pm? thanks for any inputs.

... it's possible... I packed the Bomarzo Garden, Villa Lante and Villa Farnese in one morning and afternoon..... I am not sure where you are going around Lake Bracciano, but from Civitavecchia to Bracciano it's a bit short of 90 minutes and from Bracciano to Villa Lante about 40ish, then consider an hour to get back to Civitavecchia from Bagnaia.... For Villa Lante, the Casini will probably be closed, one for sure as it opens only on special occasions, such as Museum Day in early July, so you can do the gardens and the bottom part of the Casini in one hour.. I hope it helps..
