Ricky Martin, who's receiving the first-ever Latin Icon Award at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards, has shared a photo of himself working with choreographer and creative director Jamie King. Taking King's work into consideration, we couldn't help but wonder: Are the 2025 VMAs about to be iconic?!

The 2025 MTV Video Music Awards will feature headline performances by Sabrina Carpenter, Alex Warren, Sombr, J Balvin, and DJ Snake. Notably, Carpenter is nominated for eight awards, while Busta Rhymes and Ricky Martin will receive special accolades for their cultural contributions.

LL Cool J is returning to the VMAs stage to host the 2025 MTV VMAs. The rapper previously cohosted the 2022 awards show with Nicki Minaj and Jack Harlow. He also was the first rapper to receive the Video Vanguard Award in 1997.

If you only have basic cable (or an antenna), you’re in luck. For the first time, CBS will air the VMAs as a simulcast with MTV. Otherwise, stream it on Paramount+. The 2025 VMAs are live on Sunday, September 7, at 8 p.m. ET, with a one-hour preshow starting at 7 p.m. ET.

LL Cool J is a longtime champion of the VMAs, having won his first Moon Person in 1991. He became the first rapper to receive the Video Vanguard Award, in 1997. He also performed in an all-star tribute to hip-hop’s 50th anniversary in 2023 and a celebration for Def Jam Records’ 40th anniversary last year.
