CBS host Tony Dokoupil agreed with Trump's criticism of Smithsonian museums focusing too much on America's negative history rather than celebrating achievements.

Since President Donald Trump has returned to office, he has launched an ambitious assault on libraries, museums and other repositories of America’s history. Most recently, his administration has set its sights on the Smithsonian, one of the crown jewels of this country’s cultural institutions.

CBS News host Tony Dokoupil said Wednesday that he agrees with President Donald Trump’s push to get the Smithsonian Institution to review how it has presented American history.

Both the American history and air and space museums honor American innovation and achievement. The air and space museum’s most famous exhibits include the Wright Brothers’ airplane, the "Spirit of St. Louis," which Charles Lindbergh flew across the Atlantic, and relics from the many U.S. missions to the moon.

The Trump administration’s scrutiny of Smithsonian exhibits has prompted criticism from a number of scholars over the past week, including a Princeton University professor who described it as part of a “white nationalist project.
