U.S. President Donald Trump said Iran wants to negotiate with Washington after his threat to strike the Islamic Republic over its crackdown on protesters in nationwide demonstrations that activists said Monday had left at least 599 people dead.

Large crowds of people have gathered in various Iranian cities in support of the country’s clerical regime, according to video broadcast by state media.

More than 10,681 individuals have also been transferred to prisons following arrest, the agency reported.
