Meta's Mark Zuckerberg announced the company will end fact-checking and other restrictions on Facebook and Instagram.

These changes will affect Facebook, Instagram and Threads – three of the world's largest social media platforms with a combined user base exceeding three billion. In a video statement, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said the fact-checkers "have just been too politically biased, and have destroyed more trust than they've created, especially in the US".

Mark Zuckerberg announced that Facebook will move to a Community Notes system as the company prepares for Donald Trump's presidency.
