Roblox just announced a major change aimed at younger users, which could reshape how kids experience the popular gaming platform. Essentially, the company rolled out two new age-based account types: Roblox Kids for children ages 5 to 8 and Roblox Select for users 9 to 15.

Roblox has introduced changes to its child safety system, including tech that estimates users' ages and settings that limit access to certain features based on age.

Children under the age of nine will automatically be assigned to "Roblox Kids," and the gaming app will turn off chat by default and censor content for these accounts.
