The 69th Street ferry slip in St. George was a dock for NY Waterway fast ferry service between Staten Island and the East Side of Manhattan that ran for a time in the 1990s.
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A $2.5 million federal investment will help restore a long-shuttered St. George fishing pier and revitalize the borough’s North Shore, officials announced Monday.
They’re releasing her back on St. George Island because that is where she was originally caught. Kemps Ridley Sea Turtles are endangered with only 7,000-9,000 remaining in the wild.
Visitors come to St. George Island to be outdoors, kayaking, fishing or just sitting on the country's best beach alongside the Gulf of Mexico.
