A deadly winter storm may be winding down for some, but extremely cold weather will persist. Here are the latest updates on power outages and forecasts.

That uncertainty is not unusual at this early stage. Forecasters rely on a blend of weather models — computer simulations used to predict future conditions — and they are more confident in a forecast when most of those models are consistent with one another. The closer the storm is, the more confident forecasters become.

The winter storm warning areas have the potential to see up to 2-4 inches of snow. The winter weather advisory areas have the potential to see up to 1-2 inches of snow.

The Storm Watch 9 team continues to track a coastal storm set to develop off the East Coast this weekend. Its impacts on New Hampshire, if any, are not known at this time.

Up to a foot is possible this weekend in parts of the Southeast and on Cape Cod, with smaller amounts expected for much of the East Coast.
