Frank Caprio Sr., a municipal judge in Providence, R.I., who exemplified empathy on the bench and became known far beyond the state because of his nationally syndicated television show, has died.

US judge and social media star Frank Caprio has died aged 88, according to his family.

"Beloved for his compassion, humility and unwavering belief in the goodness of people, Judge Caprio touched the lives of millions through his work in the courtroom and beyond," the statement reads.
