Netflix's 'KPop Demon Hunters' sing-along screenings could top the box office this weekend, as 'Weapons' looks at a strong third weekend.
“KPop Demon Hunters” fever is gripping New York, with the stars of the wildly popular animated Netflix film lighting up the Empire State Building on Friday. The movie, which premiered on Netflix in June, quickly became a blockbuster hit around the world, with the streaming giant now releasing a sing-along version in Big Apple theaters this weekend.
James Gunn is now the head of the DC universe, and as part of his plan, he’s working on a Supergirl movie for release in 2026. Supergirl appeared in the season 2 premiere of Peacemaker, a series written and directed by Gunn. The scene was part of a flashback, detailing the events of last season’s Peacemaker adventures.
“KPop Demon Hunters A Sing-Along Event” arrives at movie theaters Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 23-24 for one weekend only. The animated film will be shown in theaters across the United States. Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom, according to Netflix.

Two months after premiering on the streamer on June 20, HUNTR/X and the Saja Boys are hitting the big screen with a special sing-along version of KPop Demon Hunters, coming to select theaters on Aug. 23 and 24. Fans are invited to belt out songs alongside Rumi (Arden Cho), Mira (May Hong), and Zoey (Ji-young Yoo).
