Pittsburgh Penguins center Evgeni Malkin tallied four points during their overtime victory over the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday evening. In the second period, Malkin tallied two helpers, the primary assist on Philip Tomasino's strike and the secondary assist on Erik Karlsson's goal.
Bryan Rust also said he expects to play Saturday. The forward missed a 3-2 loss at the Philadelphia Flyers on Feb. 8 with a lower-body injury and has 42 points (20 goals, 22 assists) in 48 games, third on the Penguins behind Crosby (58 points) and Rickard Rakell (48).
Evgeni Malkin doesn’t often speak to the media. In his 19th season, media is a formality he engages once a month or quarter, pending his newsworthiness or interest.
The Pittsburgh Penguins selected forward Mikhail Ilyin in the fifth-round pick of the 2023 NHL Entry Draft. He doesn’t get much coverage, but he’s progressing steadily.
