The Lions have known for two years that they were likely to lose Glenn and Johnson. Anyone who thinks that the whole organization has not been thinking about and planning for the transition clearly has not bought into the new Lions.

Detroit's defensive coordinator was previously Glenn, who had held down the fort at this spot since 2021. Glenn left to take the New York Jets head coach opening, and it was a return to his roots, as Glenn spent eight seasons of his playing career with the Jets.

Detroit still has their defensive coordinator, Aaron Glenn, under contract. However, Glenn is considered a finalist for several head coaching jobs, and Lions coach Dan Campbell has said he expects to lose both coordinators this offseason.
