If Reyna is to make a charge at the 2026 U.S. World Cup squad, his club fortunes need to change drastically – and quickly

Bayern Munich have already set the benchmark in the Bundesliga with an emphatic win against RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga curtain-raiser on Friday night, and now it’s Borussia Dortmund’s turn to turn on the style against St. Pauli in the Topspiel on Saturday evening.

Gio Reyna is reportedly more likely to join a Premier League outfit if he leaves Borussia Dortmund than link up with Christian Pulisic at AC Milan.

The transfer windows in Europe's big five leagues close on Sept. 1, but if Gio Reyna is to finally leave Borussia Dortmund, it will realistically have to happen by this weekend.

Reyna - who was linked with Gers earlier this year - burst onto the scene with the Bundesliga club in 2020 but has since become a bit-part player in recent seasons, spending the second half of the 2023/24 campaign on loan at Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.

Gio Reyna made his first appearance for Borussia Dortmund at the Club World Cup, entering for the German club in the 78th minute of its 1-0 win over South Korean side Ulsan on Wednesday.
