Westtown School, ranked 25th in the nation, is celebrating its fifth straight Friends Schools League championship.

Growing up in a family of professional basketball players, Buzelis was taught early that there were no shortcuts — lessons that helped prepare him for his rookie season with the Bulls and coach Billy Donovan. Comsewogue 73, West Babylon 67: Joe Perri scored eight of his 26 points in the fourth quarter to lead Comsewogue (6-13) in Suffolk IV. RJ Varland added 26 points and five rebounds and James Ward had seven points and 15 rebounds. Modesta Tapia scored 32 points for West Babylon (6-13).

The Alabama high school basketball season is officially into the postseason as area tournaments kick off around the state. Area tournaments can get started on Thursday and go through Wednesday for Class 1A-6A. Class 7A, with its lack of sub regional play, gets its area tournaments start on Feb.5 and goes through the 8th.
