Jake Retzlaff could become the first Jewish quarterback in the modern era of Tulane football if he wins the starting job after transferring from Brigham Young.

With Jake Retzlaff (Tulane) opting to leave the program after he violated the program’s honor code, the Cougars held a three-man battle for the starting quarterback role. When the dust from the battle settled, the program announced that Stanford transfer and true freshman Bear Bachmeier would be the starter.

Since Brendan Sullivan is sidelined with an ankle injury for roughly the next 1-2 weeks, the QB job has quickly turned into Jake Retzlaff's to lose.
