Oxytocin is produced by the hypothalamus and released by the posterior pituitary gland. It plays a role in childbirth, lactation, and sexual behavior. Clinical uses for oxytocin include induction of labor, strengthening contractions during labor, controlling postpartum hemorrhage, and managing an incomplete or inevitable abortion. Creates stronger and more frequent contractions vs. oxytocin. Much higher risk of low oxygen for baby. Doesn’t create pain relieving sensations like oxytocin
