Louise Nevelson's "City on the High Mountain" is a playful and complex assemblage, combining different sculpture models Nevelson had created several years earlier. Additional pieces were added to create the final composition, including the grill-like "lace," which reminded the artist of lace doilies from her childhood, and a gong-like, suspended element.
