Probiotics are foods or supplements that contain live microorganisms intended to maintain or improve the "good" bacteria (normal microflora) in the body. Prebiotics are foods (typically high-fiber foods) that act as food for human microflora. All prebiotics are classified as fiber, which is the indigestible portion of plants. But all fibers are not prebiotics. “Dietary fiber can be split into two categories: soluble fiber, which is fermented by gut bacteria, and insoluble fiber, which is not fer
