Happy birthday to Paul Cézanne born on this day in 1839 in the town of Aix-en-Provence in France. Thanks to a generous grant from the Bank of America, the Barnes’s painting conservators were able to study and treat the Barnes’s “Large Bathers,” one of three versions of the painting that were to occupy him so deeply during the last ten years of his life. At the time of his death in 1906, Cézanne was almost entirely unknown by the general public. Albert C. Barnes was one of the first American coll
